For the fourth consecutive trading day, trading on the floor of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), yesterday, closed green as the All Share Index and market capitalisation appreciated by 3.18 per cent each, the biggest daily gain in the year.
The All Share Index closed at 28,423.70 points after a momentous rise by 877.02 basis points or 3.18 percent from 27,546.68 it closed for trading on Wednesday, while market capitalisation added N303.2 billion, to close at N9.825 trillion from N9.522 trillion it closed on the previous day.
Total Oil added 800 kobo to close at N263.00 per share, leading the top gainers for the day. It was followed by Dangote Cement, which added 729 kobo to close at N173.3 per share, Nigerian Breweries gained 680 kobo to close at N142.81 per share, Forte Oil grabbed 468 kobo to close at N50.41 per share, while Lafarge Cement WAPCO recorded 230 kobo to close at N48.38 per share, among others.
Conversely, Seplat Oil Development Company led decliners’ table when it depreciated by N41.43 to close at N383.57 per share, followed by BOC Gases which slipped by 17 kobo to close at N3.25 per share, Continental Insurance dropped 6 kobo to close at N1.24 per share, Air Service Company lost 5 kobo to close at N1.00 per share, while NPF Micro Finance Bank depreciated by 4 kobo to close at N4.69 per share, among others.
First City Monument Bank emerged the most traded equity on Thursday with an exchange of 132.976 million shares worth N155.555 million. Followed by First City Monument Bank having accounted for 72.518 million shares valued at N304.904 million, Fidelity Bank exchanged 68.965 million shares valued at N73.239 million; Transnational Incorporated recorded 60.140 million shares valued at N73.921 million while United Bank for Africa traded 57.832 million shares worth N416.017 million.
A total of 801.07 shares worth N7.823 billion in 6,481 deals exchanged hands on Thursday compared with a total of 584.119 shares valued at N5.651 billion in 5,121.00 deals traded on Wednesday.
